I used to not be able to sleep until at least an hour after laying down because I would constantly be thinking and simply not be able to fall asleep. After a few days of taking 3 mg before bed, however, I began sleeping within 15 minutes, which is amazing.

When I first started Effexor (at 37.5mg), it was like a Godsend. I felt immediately like things were going to change with my life. I started to lose some of the weight I'd put on because of the depression, and my counselor and I started talking about transitioning so I wouldn't have to come in every week. I was on so many medications, it is difficult to differentiate which medication was causing what side effect. The psychiatrist at the residential treatment center put me on the benadryl because I was unable to sleep more than 2 hours per night. The trazadone was not helping me sleep either.
