I have been taking Effexor XR in combination with Lexapro for 5 years. Recently deciding to fast and cleanse I stopped taking both meds. Please do not stop abrubtly as I did. Follow the advice of your physician and wean off the meds. I experienced extreme withdrawls including sleeplessness, flash headaches, nausea, extreme sadness and suicidal thoughts. I was prescribed prednisone for two months to help with colitis. I developed Avascular Necrosis of the hips within 12 months due to this drug. I needed to have my hips replaced at age 31. They said it is a rare side effect, but it isn't rare enough.

I've had chronic breathing difficulty through my nose, mostly during the change of seasons. I started taking Sudafed and now I can breathe through my nose. That means a lot. I take it three times a day now, and generally speaking, I don't have problems breathing through my nose.

I do seem to have suffered from more side effects this episode but I was having to take the drops half hourly for a week and then hourly each day and night for 2 weeks before weaning down to 3 times a day now.
