All my life people described me as being laid-back and happy. But my first year of college I became sad and impatient and moody. Everyone thought I was homesick or having a hard time adjusting to school. When I went to the university clinic to get a new prescription for birth control they gave me a free generic. i enjoyed the effects of ritalin, however the effects of the drug started very quickly and ended abruptly. i had a lot of mood swings during this time as well and no appetite. i also gained weight while on this medication as when i took it i had no appetite, and when i was off of the medication I overcompensated.

My depression has lifted significantly, but not enough to say I think this is a great med for me. I've gained 10 pounds, have frequent bad headaches and believe that my vision has deteriorated. I am much more irritable and intense. I had great success with Prozac for many years and then it just pooped out. Since then I have been on just about every depression med. If there was an alternative non drug, then I would not take it. I have chroic urticaria since I was 17 and have never taken a medical drug since because of this. This has not been taken into account by my doctors at all.
