It's not until I complete this survey that I realise what an adverse affect carbimazole has had one me. It did lower my thyroid levels (and that seems to be all my doctor is interested in) but I feel worse for it. I also wonder whether other medication interracts with it. I also take lithium (which caused by hyperthyroidism) and although my doctor has said this wouldn't be a problem, I wonder if it is an issue. Final comment. I now have a really sore lower back. I was forced to take this drug for a colonoscopy after I vehemently told the Dr that I didn't want it and to use a painkiller and not an amnesiac. He told me he knew best and just used Versed. I have IBS, I was wide awake in excrutiating pain, tears were running down my face and I tried to scream that I felt like a weedwhacker was turned on inside of me, but I was totally paralized!!! This drug destroyed my GI system. I experienced nausea and abdominal pain within days of taking the first dose and sporadic gas and diarrhea the entire length of my treatment. Even after I stopped taking this drug, it took 2 years for my stomach to regain any sense of normalcy.

I have had bladder trouble for years and this medicine was prescribed to me as an asprin for the bladder. It has been very helpful to me for years as long as I take it exactly when it is time otherwise my bladder starts to hurt. Have tried other medicines and this one works best for me.
