Darvocet N 100 was prescribed to me when I broke my foot this summer. I took it as directed but it is a controlled medication and made me very sleepy and I would just fall asleep whenever I took it (so it was good to take at night) But honestly what helped the most with my pain was the Ibuprofen 800 which is an antiinflammatory. The first few days I took Trileptal I felt "drunk" but that vanished within the first week. Cognitive side effects such as severely not being able to remember words and short term memory loss were severe the first few months, but tapered off so that after the first 6 months I wasn't and am still not sure if it's the Trileptal or getting older (45) that's causing the now mild effects.

When I do get a bad migraine I usually take maxalt, but when it is not available to me I stick to what work has always worked in the past and that is ibuprofen. For the typical bad headache or tension headache, 600 or 800 mg of Ibuprofen just knocks the headache right out so I do not have to repeat the dose later... View full comment
