I too am hyperthyroid. I was prescribed carbimazole and had an allergic reaction with a skin rash which erupted within days. I then was prescribed PTU, propylithouacil which I initially took at a very high dosage, namely 12 tablets/day and after several weeks lost my taste completely and had bad headaches. My consultant reduced the dosage to two/day after 2 months as I had gone underactive. I gradually regained my taste but then developed pains in my arms so bad I couldn't sleep on my sides... I started out taking Lexapro but the dr. switched me to Celexa because my insurance covered it but didnt cover the lexapro. They told me that it was very similar to lexapro but it made me very sick when I took it and I had no problems with the lexapro. I had to go off of it after a week of taking it because I didnt have any energy to do anything and constantly felt sick. I went back on the lexapro and have been doing great since!
