Stop taking it- I had severe depression for a year and I'm on Necon now and I've done a complete turnaround in feeling better and have lost weight even. I have PCOS. I should have gotten off a lot sooner but with two kids I was too busy to call dr. and take care of me. I do regret being on it for so long but two dr. told me pills don't cause depression. They are wrong.

I have been taking Avonex for about 15 years. I credit Avonex for my ability to keep walking and to continue living a fairly normal life, with a family and a 20-hour job. I think I would be in a wheelchair if I never took Avonex. Debbie, no-one knows yet how long Gardasil will last or whether you'll need a booster shot. Because targeting only a few strains could also encourage a replacement disease, Merck might also need to re-formulate the shot periodically. The scary thing is that the first users won't know if and when they're vulnerable again, which makes me wonder what the point is. i just wish that in the future that they would have more treatments for type 1 diabetics, because it is not fair that more treatments and funding are for type 2 diabetics. i know more people have this form of diabetes but people who suffere from type 1 or the other types of diabetes do not have lots of medicine and that treatments that exist for them.

Update. The worry over Lantus is over for me. I tried Levemir for a couple of months, before switching back to Lantus as it made no difference to the pain. Then I had a diagnosis of polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) a few weeks ago. This was after several visits to my doctor and a rheumatologist, blood tests and a radiological bone scan. I'm now on a lowish dose of prednisolone (10mg/day), with calcium (800mg/day) and alendronic acid (70mg once per week) to protect my bones from the steroid. Most... View full comment
