When I first started Effexor (at 37.5mg), it was like a Godsend. I felt immediately like things were going to change with my life. I started to lose some of the weight I'd put on because of the depression, and my counselor and I started talking about transitioning so I wouldn't have to come in every week. I have had simular issues. I first started taking chantix Oct 29, 2008. I had terrible abdominal pain and severe nausea. So, I convinced myself to continue taking the drug because I thought nausea and abdominal pain was better than continuing to smoke. Boy was I wrong. I quit smoking on Nov 15, 2008 AND quit taking chantix 3 days later. I knew I had to because chantix was making me very ill. This drug is DANGEROUS. It damaged my lingual nerve permanently. I now have a paresthesia/dysesthesia of my tongue, right side, going on 17 months. It is torture. My taste is altered along with burning pain and tingling in my tongue on the right side.
