I have been using Depo-Provera for about 5 years, and the experience for me has had pros and cons. While growing up I had very painful periods, and one year when I went in for an annual checkup the doctor had discovered a cyst on my ovary. The nurse said that the cyst could have been contributing to the pain I was having. They said if I continued having periods regularly that the cyst could continue to grow. This is a great birth control. It does affect sex drive, though. It's nice that injections are every three months instead of a pill everyday. The injection site does hurt for up to three days after day of injection. Have had no period, cramping, bleeding, bloating, or headaches for a year now which is great!
