Drug was helpful in the short-term (6 months); decided to quit with a quick 6-week taper 3 years ago because of weight gain, loss of motivation for virtually any activity, and overwhelming feeling of physical malaise; experienced truly horrific withdrawal symptoms (see www.paxilprogress.org for others' experiences) had to go back on drug; have now completed 1st year in what will be a 2-year taper off this drug. Stay far away from this drug; there are much better options out there for you.

I have been taking Effexor XR in combination with Lexapro for 5 years. Recently deciding to fast and cleanse I stopped taking both meds. Please do not stop abrubtly as I did. Follow the advice of your physician and wean off the meds. I experienced extreme withdrawls including sleeplessness, flash headaches, nausea, extreme sadness and suicidal thoughts. I experienced blurred almost refracted vision taking Claritin on an empty stomach. Symptoms lasted about 20 mins. Otherwise on a full stomach product works amazing for allergies and asthma.

I thought the strength of my memory was lowering due to my age (33) .. but perhaps it is related to the generic Xanax. But on a positive, this solution has had the least amount of side-affects over any other anti-anxiety option for me personally. Anti-depressants put a lot of weight on me and took away my libido. No sign of that now and I've been on 1mg XR for well over a year now.

I felt like I had taken the wrong medicine. I got worse. for about 2 weeks and then for another3-4 weeks of and on I had attacks. the anxiety was the worst I ever had. I really thought I was going mad. Until I finally convinced myself and lots of theropy that it was working. I also have sharp zaps in the head still to this day. I,ve been on it for about 3 months.
