Alprazolam is the finest and most effective BZD for anxiety and panic on the market and also the ONLY benzodiazepine (of the triazolo- class) recommended for people with a history of depression. The problem in the USA is that there are hundreds of brands/generics, but only TWO which would be deemed acceptable quality by European patients - original branded XANAX and the GREENSTONE generics. See my mother's Alz experience above. She got into trouble with only 3/4 of a .5 mg tab a day. When I insisted Mom be sedated for invasive procedures at a hospital ER room, they figured they'd give her a full day's allowed dose at once, so that would be 1.5 mg. That put her in LaLa land allright. I was grateful they used it on this occasion. Overuse of this drug could have stopped her breathing. 22 mg in one day. Good grief. During the short time that I took Pristiq, I felt as though I was having an "out of body experience" and was no longer connected to the world. I could not eat, sleep properly, was very irritable, and could not relate to anyone, not even myself. Synthroid never affected me positively. It never resolved my symptoms and not only that, it allowed them to continue. I never got better; I only got worse. I found Armour thyroid and have never looked back. Synthroid; levoxyl, and their ilk do nothing but make money for their makers. They give a false hope, while Armour gives true hope and true theraputic value. Synthetics shoud be thrown off the market. They are worthless drugs.
