Human Papillomavirus (HPV) treatment

Description
Human Papillomavirus, commonly known as HPV is the most common sexually transmitted virus. There are over 40 different viruses pertaining to the HPV virus. HPV is a type of genital warts that is transmitted through oral sex AND genital-to-genital contact.
Causes
The cause of HPV is by a virus that is transmitted from person to person by sexual contact.
Prevention
Prevention from HPV can include getting a vaccination, abstaining from sex, or getting your partner and yourself tested before having sex. Here are some tips for those of you who want to prevent HPV.
Common Symptoms
The body's immune system clears HPV naturally in 90% of HPV cases within a few years, but it does not guarantee that those diagnosed with HPV will develop cancer. Most people who contract HPV do not display any symptoms or health problems.
Rare Symptoms
It can also cause cancer in other areas as well, such as the vulva, vagina, penis, tongue, tonsils, etc.
Traditional Treatment
The medical convential treatments available for patients include removing the abnormal cells in the cervix, freezing the abnormal cells in the cervix, or to remove the abnormal cells by electrical currents, a procedure called LEEP.
Alternative Treatment
Visible warts on the genital area can be removed by medication taken by the patient. If a patient's PAP smear contains abnormal results, the abnormal cells can be treated to prevent the type of cervical cancer the patient has.
Treatment Comparison
Research and Development
Research shows that HPV cannot be treated and there is no cure. There are medications that can be taken by patients to remove genital warts, but it does not cure the patient against HPV.
