It's true that the taste is awful, and the bit of numbing is weird! But I have never slept better, and I wake up without any drug effects. I fall asleep about 20 minutes after I take it, so I plan accordingly. I find that it's less "yucky" if I place it under my tongue in such a way that I can make a tight "seal" over it with the rest of my tongue. It makes me feel better emotionally. I only have a slight increase in depression and some impatience. It makes me constipated. I sometimes have trouble going to sleep and staying asleep. I also sometimes have headaches. But overall it works O.K.
