I have taken nuvigil for about a year now. I have not had a problem with hair loss. As for sleeping, I don't normally have a problem. I too am a teacher and have difficulty with my summer's lack of routine. I know the medicine doesn't help as much if I don't take it right away in the morning. Also, I have started using the alarm clock to have a more consistent wake-up time; this seems to help too.

Side effects only lasted for the first week or so since then it's like I'm not even taking anything except for the fact I don't have panic attacks anymore. I consider Lexapro a wonder drug and wish I had started on it earlier.

Took it for 6 months starting with a high dosage to treat pericarditis. I kept to a strict diet and only gained 5 lbs during the 6 months but the other side effects were awful. Developed severe joint pain from head to toe and had leg and foot cramps. I would wake at night in terrible pain that was awful enough to leave me crying. My doctor recently switched me from pravastatin to simvastatin, since - despite weight loss and adding regular exercise and fish oil - my total cholesterol levels began to rise again. One supplement you should always take if you are on any of the statin drugs is Coenzyme Q10, as statins can deplete this nutrient from your body and cause muscle damage and worse.
