After initially trying prozac, with no effect, i immediately felt less anxiety on starting mirtazapine. It took a few months, with increasing dose, to notice an inmprovement with my mood. Worth persevering with.

I was very depressed and had thoughts of suicide due to debilitating pain and loss of mobility, and was walking the floor at night, unable to sleep, crying, wishing I could die just to be free of the pain. I was originally prescribed pills that only contained 0.030 mg of synthetic estrogen for extremely painful cramps (and also hoped that they would help control some of my bad acne). I experienced some breast tenderness, and the acne hardly cleared as we had hoped. I was soon switched to MonoNessa, which has 0.035 mg of the estrogen in it, and I think it has worked wonderfully.
