Poison & Overdose treatment

Description
Damaging physiologic effects from ingestion, inhalation, or other exposure to a broad range of chemicals, including pesticides, heavy metals, gases/vapors, drugs, and a variety of common household substances, such as bleach and ammonia.
Causes
The substance may be taken by error or purposely, sometimes with the intention of taking one's life.
Prevention
Only use the designated amount of medications as indicated on the packaging, read warning labels, and heed the advice of a medical professional.
Common Symptoms
Abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
Rare Symptoms
Chronic illness.
Traditional Treatment
Ingesting water can flush out any unabsorbed chemical, and medical treatments can be used to remove the absorbed drug.
Alternative Treatment
An individual may need to be incubated (have a tube placed in the airway) so that the doctor can protect the lungs or help the person breathe during the detoxification process.
