Detoxification treatment

Description
Detoxification is the removal of toxic substances from the human body. It can also refer to the period of withdrawal in which a person returns to homeostasis after long-term use of an addictive substance. It is an ongoing process that takes places in the blood, lymph, kidneys, liver, intestines, and in every cell.
Causes
Certain diets have the assumption that the body accumulates toxins that must be removed, especially after periods of over-eating or the consumption of non-nutritious and processed foods. In alternative medicine, toxins are ascribed to foods, the environment, and the body's own wastes. Prevention
Some ways to prevent the need to go through the process of detoxification include a diet rich in fiber and enzymes. It is important to have a diet with little to no toxins, and exercise also is imperative to eliminate toxins.
Common Symptoms
Common symptoms for detoxification are varied, but include headache, chills, nausea, dripping nose, body odor, aches and pains, rashes, boils, weight loss, dizziness, lack of appetite, fatigue. The symptoms may not last very long and differ in each individual depending on their previous lifestyle and toxicity levels.
Rare Symptoms
Rare symptoms may include worsening conditions of allergies or previous illnesses. Like common symptoms, these should decrease after a short time period.
Traditional Treatment
Many detoxification programs are done through the diet, by eating plenty of fiber and detoxifying fruits and vegetables. Eliminating coffee, cigarettes, refined sugars and saturated fats can also lighten up the toxin load. Exercises such as jump roping and yoga are also used in the detoxification process. The consumption of ample water is also practiced.
Alternative Treatment
Alternative treatments include the consumption herbal supplements and teas, hydrotherapy, sweating in a sauna, skin dry-brushing, detoxification baths, juice or water fasting, pro-biotic supplements to achieve healthy bowel flora, antioxidants, enzymes, and bowel cleansing.
