Description
Headaches are described by pain in the head. There are three types: tension, migraine, and cluster.
Causes
The causes of headaches vary. Some are caused by viral infections, pregnancy, stress, lighting, fatigue, or eye strain.
Prevention
Specific foods may trigger headaches, so paying attention to how foods affect you can enable you to cut out those foods. Triptans are the most popular medications to treat and prevent migraines. Antidepressants can be used to prevent both migraines and tension headaches.
Common Symptoms
Pain in the head region.
Rare Symptoms
Sensitivity to light, blurred vision, nausea, loss of appetite, chills, fatigue, paleness, fever.
Traditional Treatment
Pain relieving medications can be taken to stop symptoms once a headache has already begun, and preventative medications can be taken on a daily basis to reduce the severity of recurring headaches.
Alternative Treatment
Acupuncture, massage, herbs, essential oils, and dietary changes.
