13 Oct 2013 Adapalene (taken in Epiduo) was caused horrible redness and dryness at first and even increased my acne. Later, I was desperate for acne relief, so I tried again. I found that using it with lotion and coconut oil stopped the redness and dry skin entirely, but the eczema on my hand grew worse. I noticed I was getting a giddy feeling and mild insomnia while using the medication and my eyes were bothered by it, but, since it relieved my acne, I continued using it. (I want to note that I never really experience dry eye prior to this and never to this extreme,) After a couple months, my eyes suddenly got to the point in which I was waking up in the night due to a horrible dry, swollen sensation in my eyes. I stopped the medication and my eyes instantly felt a lot better, but I still had mild problems. Occasionally I would use epiduo again and my eyes would feel worse. I stopped the medication altogether but even months after having stopped, I still wake up with horrible sensations in my eyes sometimes and my eyes are much, much more prone to dryness. I fear that possibly this medication has damaged my eyes. I have, however, been recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism (after stopping Adapalene). Of course it can't be said if this medication made my thyroid condition worse or started it in the first place. My underactive thyroid may have made my skin less moist and less able to handle the Adapalene. I don't really know. I would personally recommend not using it if you have eczema or ANY dry skin or hypothyroidism.
