Amerge is manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline Inc.

It is primarily used in relieving certain types of migraine headaches.

Common Uses:

This medication is used in relieving certain types of migraine headaches.

Off Label Uses:

None noted thus far.

Side Effects:
Dizziness;
Drowsiness;
Nausea;
Numbness or tingling of the skin;
Tiredness.

Cautions / Warnings:

Not recommended in people with:
Allergic reactions to this medication or any of its ingredients;
Hemiplegic or basilar type migraine headaches;
Severe liver or kidney disorders;
Uncontrolled hypertension;
A history of heart problems (eg, coronary artery disease; heart attack); blood vessel problems; chest pain as in angina; stroke or transient ischemic attacks or TIA; certain bowel conditions like ischemic bowel disease or IBS; and seizures.

Drug Interactions:
Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) (eg, phenelzine);
Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) (eg, citalopram, fluoxetine); Serotonin 5-HT1 receptor agonists (eg, sumatriptan);
Serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs) (eg, duloxetine, venlafaxine);
Sibutramine or tryptophan;
Ergot alkaloids (eg, ergotamine);
Hormonal contraceptives (eg, birth control pill) or methylsergide.
