The generic name of this medication is anagrelide hydrochloride and brand names are Anagrelide, Agrylin, Gen-Anagrelide.

The active ingredient of this medication is anagrelide hydrochloride.

Anagrelide hydrochloride manufactured by Genpharm.

This medication is used to:
Decrease any elevations in the platelet count, reducing the risk of thrombosis;
Provide relief from associated symptoms like thrombohemorrhagic events.

Common Uses:

This medication is used to:
Decrease any elevations in the platelet count, reducing the risk of thrombosis;
Provide relief from associated symptoms like thrombohemorrhagic events.

Off Label Uses:

None noted currently.

Side Effects:
Back pain;
Cough;
Diarrhea;
Dizziness;
Drowsiness;
Gas;
General body discomfort;
Headache;
Joint or muscle weakness;
Loss of appetite;
Nausea;
Stomach pain;
Tiredness;
Upset stomach;
Vomiting;
Weakness.

Cautions / Warnings:

Not recommended in people with:
Allergic reactions to this medication or any of its ingredients;
Persistent diarrhea;
Nausea;
Abdominal discomfort or pain;
Frequent vomiting.

It is also not recommended in pregnant women; those that are planning on becoming pregnant and nursing mothers.

Drug Interactions:
CYP1A2 inhibitors like fluvoxamine;
CYP1A2 substrates like theophylline;
Cyclic AMP PDE III substrates like cilostazol, milrinone;
Sucralfate.

diagnosed with ET 14 yrs ago was on HU now on anagrelide . platelet count 'normal' but awful side effects - haematologist not convinced Anagrilide the cause, even though test show no other problems. suffer severe aches and pains and fatigue also IBS.
