Warnings
The generic name of this medication is anakinra. It is administered subcutaneously. The brand name is Kineret.
The active ingredients of this medication is anakinra and the inactive ingredients are sodium citrate, sodium chloride, disodium EDTA, and polysorbate.
This medication is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis which has failed to respond to other medications especially the disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs or DMARDs.
Common Uses:
This medication is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis which has failed to respond to other medications especially the disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs or DMARDs.
Off Label Uses:
None noted currently.
Side Effects:
Injection site reactions (e.g., redness, swelling, bruising, itching, stinging); Headache;
Nausea;
Diarrhea and abdominal pain.
Cautions / Warnings:
Not recommended in people with:
Allergic reactions to this medication or any of its ingredients; or to proteins made from a certain bacteria (E. coli); or to latex;
Current or ongoing infections;
Renal disease;
Asthma;
Immune system problems;
Cancer.
Drug Interactions:
Abatacept;
Live vaccines (such as polio vaccine taken by mouth, flu vaccine inhaled through the nose, measles/mumps/rubella vaccine);
TNF blockers (such as adalimumab, certolizumab, etanercept, infliximab).
