The generic name of this medication is candesartan and brand name is Atacand.

The active ingredients of this medication is candesartan cilexetil. Inactive ingredients include hydroxypropyl cellulose, polyethylene glycol, lactose, corn starch, carboxymethylcellulose calcium, and magnesium stearate.

Primarily used in the treatment of high blood pressure or hypertension.

Common Uses:

Used in the treatment of high blood pressure or hypertension.

Off Label Uses:

Used in the treatment of:
Renal disorders caused by type 2 (not insulin-dependent) diabetes;
Cardiovascular disorders in certain patients.

Side Effects:
Feeling like you might pass out;
Chest pain;
Swelling in the upper and lower extremities; or
Bradycardia, weak pulse, tingly feeling.

Cautions / Warnings:

Not recommended in people with:
Allergic reactions to this medication or any of its ingredients;
Renal disorders;
Liver disorders;
Electrolyte imbalance.

It is also not recommended in pregnant women; women planning on becoming pregnant; and nursing mothers.

Drug Interactions:
A diuretic (water pill); or
Lithium (Eskalith, LithoBid, Lithonate).
