08 May 2012 I have heard stories about individuals that wrer perscibed atenolol, and there side effects , since I've been taking this drug,it has helped my blood pressure and heart rate as well, aim active and at rest my heart rate is between 65-72 beats per minute where as before the drug it was 82-95 at rest, and blood pressure was 145/90 to 95 now aim at 177/70 or at times 114/68 which was quite a change.....the drug has worked well for me ... If I could change any one thing it would be to stop the slight dizziness side effects..........

15 Aug 2011 I take Atenolol to control the effects of hyperthyroidism, or Graves Disease, until the permanent treatment (I just underwent radiation therapy) kicks in. I have been very pleased with the medication because it helps alleviate the racing heart, heart palpitations, and anxiety that come with Graves. For a while I was just taking it as needed, but it became often enough that the doctor instructed me to take it full time, pre-emptively. The only downside is that it doesn't always last the full 24 hours until I can take another dose, and when it wears off I can get tired and anxious. But it worked much better for me than Propanol and overall I'm happy with it.
