Common Uses:
This medication is used for the treatment of Type 1 Gaucher disease that results in one or more of the following: anemia (low level of red blood cells), thrombocytopenia (low level of platelets), bone disease, hepatomegaly (enlargement of the liver), or splenomegaly.
Off Label Uses:
None noted currently.
Side Effects:
Discomfort, burning, itching, swelling, or abscess (open wound or sore) at the injection site;
Nausea or vomiting;
Abdominal pain;
Diarrhea;
Fatigue.
Cautions / Warnings:
Not recommended for following conditions:
Who have had an allergic reaction to imiglucerase, alglucerase (Ceredase), or have antibodies to either medication;
Who have breathing problems or pulmonary hypertension;
Who are pregnant, planning to become pregnant.

The generic name of this medication is imiglucerase and Brand Name is Cerezyme. The active ingredients of this medication is imiglucerase and Inactive ingredients are sodium starch glycolate, povidone. This medication is used for the treatment of Type 1 Gaucher disease that results in one or more of the following: anemia (low level of red blood cells), thrombocytopenia (low level of platelets), bone disease, hepatomegaly (enlargement of the liver), or splenomegaly.
About Imiglucerase
Imiglucerase is a recombinant DNA produced analogue of human β-glucocerebrosidase. Cerezyme® is a freeze dried medicine containing imiglucerase, manufactured by Genzyme Corporation. It is given intravenously after reconstitution as a treatment for Type 1 Gaucher's disease.
