Warnings
Nystatin is the generic name of this medication and Mykinac the brand name.
It is an antibiotic which is both fungistatic and fungicidal in vitro against a wide range of yeasts and yeast-like fungi, including Candida albicans; C. guilliermondi; C. krusei; C. parapsilosis; C. pseudotropicalis; C. tropicalis; Torulopsis glabrata; T. mentagrophytes; and Tricophyton rubrum.
It is primarily used in treating oral or gastrointestinal fungal infections.
Common Uses:
It is used in the treatment of oral or gastrointestinal fungal infections;
Candidiasis.

None available at this time.
Side Effects:
Skin irritation not present prior to commencing on this medication.
Cautions / Warnings:
It is contraindicated in people with a history of hypersensitivity or allergic reactions to this medication or any its ingredients;
It belongs to the pregnancy 'C' category of drugs.

About Nystatin
Nystatin is a polyene antifungal drug to which many molds and yeasts are sensitive, including Candida spp. Nystatin has some toxicity associated with it when given intravenously, but it is not absorbed across intact skin or mucous membranes. It is considered a relatively safe drug for treating oral or gastrointestinal fungal infections.
