Naloxone Hydrochloride is the generic name of this medication and its active ingredients are naloxone hydrochloride; pentazocine hydrochloride.

The inactive ingredients of this medication are, sodium chloride and hydrochloric acid.

Route of administration is parenteral.

Naloxone hydrochloride injection is used complete or partial reversal of narcotic depression, including respiratory depression, resulting from opioids including natural and synthetic narcotics, propoxyphene, methadone and certain narcotic-antagonist analgesics: nalbuphine, pentazocine and butorphanol. Naloxone hydrochloride is also used in the diagnosis of suspected acute opioid overdosage.

Naloxone hydrochloride injection could also work an adjunctive agent to increase blood pressure in managing septic shock.

Common Uses:

Used in the following conditions:
Opioid depression;
Respiratory depression;
Diagnosis of suspected acute opioid overdosage;
To increase blood pressure in the management of septic shock as an adjunctive agent.

Off Label Uses:

None noted currently.

Side Effects:
hypotension; hypertension; ventricular tachycardia and fibrillation; dyspnea; pulmonary edema and cardiac arrest.
Death; coma and encephalopathy.

Cautions / Warnings:

Contraindicated in people that are hypersensitive to it;
Not recommended in pregnant women; nursing mothers;
Could create drug dependencies;
Not recommended in people with renal and hepatic conditions.
