Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Seal is physically striking—but those scars come from discoid lupus, not from tribal rituals as is rumored.

About Sulphur
Sulphur is one of the three most important remedies, along with Lycopodium and Calcarea Carbonica in the traditional homeopath's medicine chest because all three are antipsoric remedies. The term antipsoric means a treatment for a "miasm", which is not an acute illness, but rather an inherited fundamental weakness or predisposition to chronic diseases. Traditionally, sulphur has been known to benefit the skin. Sulfur was known to ancient societies, and in the Bible it is called brimstone. Among the various conditions to which it has been applied as a medication for some 2,000 years are skin disorders such as scabies. Commercially, sulfur is used in the production of dyes, fungicides, and gunpowder. Homeopathic physicians may prescribe dilute doses of the remedy Sulphur to treat conditions accompanied by irritability, intense itching, burning pains, and offensive odors. Digestive complaints that are helped by this remedy include a tendency to regurgitate food; indigestion that is worsened by drinking milk; vomiting and chronic diarrhea that occur early in the morning; hunger pain with a sinking feeling in the stomach ; itchy, burning hemorrhoids; redness and itching around the anus; and anal fissures. In women, Sulfur is effective for premenstrual syndrome symptoms, for example, headaches, irritability, and insomnia, and menopausal symptoms, such as flushing, dizziness, and sweating. Sulfur is also given for mental stress, lack of energy and willpower; forgetfulness; irritability; depression; disturbed sleep with nightmares; early waking; and indecision.
