05 Sep 2012 I'm 37 now and I've been suffering from this disease since my early 20's. I've been using Uloric for gout treatment, not in a regular basis though, because of ocasional flare ups and pain. I usually stop taking the medicine as soon as I start feeling some pain because it hurts so much and it affects my work performance. My overall opinion is that it really works for lowering UA levels but I still experience recurrent flare ups, I suppose caused by the dilution of tophi which causes a raise in UA levels in the blood until excreted. Anybody under treatment with this drug should take into consideration that every body system is unique and works differently from one another. So that's why reactions may vary, I think.

25 Aug 2012 Uloric is very expensive (even with insurance). The gout attacks and side affects are not worth it. This medication is supposed to decrease uric acid and prevent gout attacks. It seems to intensify the situation. I am asking my rhumo doc for another medication. The makers of uloric need to go back to the drawing board. Cannot believe that there are any successful patients.

06 Aug 2012 I been on Uloric two months and hoped the naseua and loss of appetite would go away but it has not. I have felt like my insides are thumping and have attributed this to my lack of appetite. I expected joint pain and still have that while the urate deposits are hopefully breaking down. I want it to work so I will be able to use my hands, as it is now I have difficulty opening the easiest containers like bottled water and sometimes cannot bend my fingers due to the deposits.

25 Jul 2012 More gout outbreaks now than before. Horribly oily skin and scalp with lots of acne and skin sores. Ready to quit taking it.
