03 Nov 2018 I don't know if this contributed to my acne outbreak, or combined with other meds. I'm 73 and have these little pussy pimples around nose lips and chin.

20 Jun 2016 I have not yet started taking this medication, but my rheumatologist has recommended that I do. So, started researching it. I have not had many gout attacks and my uric acid numbers are near the high end of the normal scale, but still within normal range. Have tried allopurinol, taken off of it due to changes in my blood counts. I am a cancer patient with chronic lymphocytic leukemia, and have also had squamous cell carcinoma in a vocal cord and undergone radiation therapy. I cannot take NSAIDs due to decreased kidney function (think the doc believes he may be able to help my kidney function if he starts me on Uloric). Doc has said that if he starts me on Prednisone (fairly high dosage) before starting me on Uloric, I should be able to avoid a gout flare. Has anyone tried that route? I'm afraid I'm still not convinced and not sure what to do at this point. :( My last gout flare lasted almost six weeks, since I couldn't take NSAIDs. Had to take narcotic pain meds along with Prednisone as anti-inflammatory. (And, I hate Prednisone.)

28 Sep 2013 I had to stop taking Allopurinol because it caused bad skin reactions (my skin was peeling off my nose in flakes and I had a rash). Uloric has brought my uric acid down from 11 to 4.8, and I had only one gout flare right after I began taking it. The 40 mg dose didn't bring the uric acid down quite enough so the rheumatologist put me on 60 mg -- i.e., a pill and a half per day. I've taken it for 10 months now and for me, at least, it does exactly what it's supposed to. Low UA levels and no more gout attacks! For those of us who can't take Allopurinol it's a godsend.
