The generic name of this medication is testosterone and brand names are AndroGel and Testim.

The active ingredient of this medication is testosterone and the inactive ingredients include carbomer; ethyl alcohol; and isopropyl myristate.

This medication is used in treating symptoms associated with decreased levels of testosterone in adult men when the body is unable to produce enough testosterone, condition referred to as hypogonadism.

Common Uses:

This medication is used in treating symptoms associated with decreased levels of testosterone in adult men when the body is unable to produce enough testosterone, condition referred to as hypogonadism.

Off Label Uses:

None noted currently.

Side Effects:
Acne;
Breast tenderness or enlargement;
Change in libido or sex drive;
Skin irritation especially at the site of application.

Cautions / Warnings:

Not recommended in people with:
Allergic reactions to this medication or any of its ingredients;
Known or suspected carcinoma of the prostate or breast.

It is also not recommended in women; and most certainly not in pregnant women; those that are planning on becoming pregnant and nursing mothers.

Drug Interactions:
Corticosteroids (eg, prednisone) or corticotropin (ACTH);
Anticoagulants (eg, warfarin), carbamazepine, or oxyphenbutazone;
Propranolol.

29 Sep 2013	This gel has worked great for me. I'm 50 and have gained 1 1/2 to penis and very hard erections and equal ejaculations. Feel like I'm 20 again! 29 Sep 2013	stopped in April and it took till September for pain in shoulder to stop,,, started to work out at gym again, lithi weights to start,, now back to heavier weights,,machines only no free weights,, strength coming back ,,, pain in shoulders doesn't seem to be like before only pain after work out and exercise ,,, afraid to start androgel again ,,haven't had new blood work since April.,,,, in April when i complained to Dr. about pain he blew it off as nothing even though I reference this blog, Drs. don't listen!!!!!! 29 Sep 2013	I just androgel yesterday. I am 45 years old with Low T below 300. My biggest problem is getting a full erecrtion and holding it. Labido had been a problem but seems to be improving as long as I regain confidence. Don't know what it will do for me in the long run. My question is how long did it take most of you before you felt any type of improvment? Days, weeks, months? Also will it cause any shrinkage, testicles or penis? 25 Apr 2013	In short, I feel as if I were 21 again and I am 53. My numbers were under 150 at the Dr. Now, he just askes how I'm doing and I tell him great!!
