The generic name of this medication is idoxuridine and brand name is Herplex Antiviral.
Herplex is manufactured by Allergan.
The active ingredient of this medication is idoxuridine.
Mainly used to treat virus infections of the eye.
Common Uses:
This medication is used to treat virus infections of the eye.
Off Label Uses:
None noted currently.
Side Effects:
Increased sensitivity to light
Itching
Redness
Swelling, pain or other signs of irritation not present prior to using medication
Blurring, dimming, or haziness of vision
Cautions / Warnings:
Not advisable in patients with allergic reaction to this medicine.
Should not be used at or around mealtime or prior to eating certain types of food since interactions may occur.

Having suffered from herpes outbreaks for 60 years, I was elated to find Herplex. It is so great I just gave my last bottle to a friend thinking I could pick some more up at WalMart. I drove the pharmacy people crazy trying to find it. Where can I get it or is it prescription only now or has it just disappeared? Guess I'll have to get it back from my friend. I'm serious...I had to have a corneal transplant to get rid of the scarring herpes caused in my eye. And as you herpes sufferers know, an outbreak always occurs when you are trying to look your best. Help!
