Chlorzoxazone is the generic name and active ingredient of Strifon Forte DSC.
This medication functions as a muscle relaxant by inhibiting nerve impulses that are transmitted to the brain.
It is used as part of the treatment plan in treating physical injuries and painful muscular conditions.
It is also available under the brand name Parafon Forte DSC.
Common Uses:
Part of the treatment plan with physical therapy in treating:
Injuries;
Painful muscular conditions.
Off Label Uses:
None noted currently.
Side Effects:
Allergic reactions marked by dyspnea or difficulty breathing; sore throat; swelling of lips, tongue, face; hives;
Discoloration of urine;
Dizziness;
Drowsiness;
Liver damage marked by yellowish discoloration of the skin and eyes; nausea; abdominal pain; unusual bleeding; fatigue;
Rash;
Stomach problems marked by black/bloody stools; blood in vomit.
Cautions / Warnings:
Driving not recommended while on this medication;
Operating machinary not recommended while on this medication;
Pregnant women and nursing mothers need to seek physician consultation prior to commencing on this medication.
Refrain from alcohol while on this medication.

About Chlorzoxazone
Chlorzoxazone is a centrally acting muscle relaxant used to treat muscle spasm and the resulting pain or discomfort. It acts on the spinal cord by depressing reflexes. It is sold as Parafon Forte, a combination of chlorzoxazone and acetaminophen. Possible side effects include dizziness, lightheadedness, malaise, nausea, vomiting, and liver dysfunction.
