The active ingredient of Synthroid is levothyroxine sodium thyroid hormone.

02 Mar 2010 I have been taking Synthriod 50 mcg Tablets for a year and a half. So far it has help me to get some energy back and helped with my muscle and joint pain. I have not had any bad side effect form this medicine.

19 Feb 2010 I have been taking syntroid for over 1 year to suppress remaining part of thyroid after surgery(pappillary carcinoma). I have: fever, fatigue, nervousiness, high temperature, high blood pressure, tremor, anxiety..... My endocrinologist ignores my symptoms saying that I have to stay on syntroid. He increased dose and it made me feel even more horrible. I will gradually stop taking this medication even though all endocrinologists are against my decision. I can not leave like this. I will do sonograms and blood tests every 3 months and if god forbids there is new nodule I will have surgery and only then stay on this horrible medication. I MADE MY DECISION--- SUPPRESSION OF REMAINING PART BY TAKING LARGE DOSES OF SYNTROID MAKES YOU FEEL HORRIBLE> DON"T TRUST ENDOCRINOLOGISTS.
