07 Jan 2010 Just to note that the hospital stay had nothing to do with taking Synthroid.

01 Sep 2009 I have been on Synthroid for over five years. For the last five years the dosage has varied very little mainly staying at 75 MCG’s. For the last five years the drug did its job. My hair was not falling out and I felt great no weight gain. About two months ago everything changed. I was a very active 20 year old who worked out, ate well, and if lucky slept five hours a night. One day Synthroid caused the most harmful changes to my body. I started gaining weight like crazy first it was only a few pounds but even with working out ten more pound s piled on. My hair starting thinning like crazy, in addition I developed these terrible night sweats. I started sleeping 16 to 17 hours a day and was still tired. My mood started to change for the worse I was always upset and arguing with my boyfriend. I started to loose the feeling in both my toes and finger tips for long periods of time. My eye site went from bad to worse and I could no longer drive safely at night. I was cold all the time and my hands would shake. I developed this terrible jaw pain similar to (TMJ) and the worst was that my period became irregular evening skipping a month. I had countless blood tests done and they all showed that Synthroid was working fine, but I promise you that it was not working fine. Synthroid made my life terrible and so difficult. Three days ago I stopped taking Synthroid despite what my doctor said, and I feel a million plus times better. I am happy, smiling, laughing, loving life. I have stopped gaining weight, my jaw pain is gone, and most of all I am awake. M period is still irregular but I can only assume that with time that as well as the poor eyetie will get better. It was amazing not waking up in a pool of sweat. I had so much energy and only slept seven hours. There is no pain in my finger tips or toes. The only thing that has not changed is the hair loss but I hope that with time that will end . Its scary how a drug that I took for so many years that helped me one day turned into a drug that destroyed my daily life. Thanks to my boyfriend I found the courage to ask questions on my own and find out what was going on with my own body. I can only hope that if anyone else has any of these problems while on Synthroid that they look into the damage that this drug can do and did to me.

05 Feb 2010 Were you on the generic? I was--and took myself off it. Had a lot of pain and memory loss. I'm back on the armour now but will be running out of it in a few weeks. The doctor wants me to take the regular Synthroid now.

16 Aug 2009 I will never know what happened to me. But, for years I complained about anxiety and nervousness. But, my Endocrinologist have dismissed my symptoms. Finally, after nine years and learnign about Armour Thyroid, my depression and fatigue are pretty much gone. The anxiety has gotten better. But, I truly believe Synthroid helped to harm my central nervous system somehow.
