The active ingredient of Synthroid is levothyroxine sodium thyroid hormone.

05 Dec 2011 Synthorid and all its relatives did nothing more than make me ache to such a degree that I felt like I had flu symptoms all the time (without the fever). Major deep muscle aches in my hips and joints. The more I took, the more I hurt. changing to Armour Thyroid has done wonders for me. I know synthroid helps a lot of people but my body was not able to tolerate it.

30 Nov 2011 I had a TT due to cancer. i started on synthroid, tried all the knocks off brands but had several problems. the main problem was deep muscle ache as well as joint ache in my shoulders and hips. I followed Doctors advice as they kept saying I was hypo and it would take time for the pains to go away. After 5 YEARS I had had enough of the pain. I knew the importance of keeping my TSH below 1. I was on 175 mg of the posion! My family doctor agreed to work with me and let me try the Armour Thyroid. Within a week the pains went away, my concentration came back, my depression went away and I felt like I was alive again. Most Doctors believe that synthroid is the only way to go and you have to find one who is willing to believe that it is not for everyone. I am a male, age 51 and I swear synthroid was slowly killing me. Some of us can not tolerate it!

28 Sep 2011 I took it for years to prevent nodular thyroid growth, and after thyroidectomy as a replacement for natural thyroid.
