The generic name of this medication is etoricoxib and brand name is Arcoxia.

The active ingredient of this medication is etoricoxib. Inactive ingredients include: calcium hydrogen phosphate (anhydrous), carnauba wax, croscarmellose sodium, hypromellose, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, titanium dioxide, and glycerol triacetate.

It is manufactured by Merck & Co Inc.,

Mainly used in the treatment and management of:
Acute and chronic symptoms of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis;
Ankylosing spondylitis;
Chronic musculoskeletal discomfort;
Acute gouty arthritis.

Common Uses:

Mainly used in the treatment of:
Acture and chronic symptoms of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis;
Management of ankylosing spondylitis;
Chronic musculoskeletal discomfort;
Acute gouty arthritis.

Off Label Uses:

None noted currently.

Side Effects:
Nausea, vomiting;
Heartburn, indigestion, abdominal discomfort;
Diarrhoea;
Swelling of the lower extremities;
Hypertension;
Dizziness;
Headache.

Cautions / Warnings:

Not recommended in people with:
Allergic reactions to this medication or any of its ingredients;
Hypertension;
History of undergoing major surgery on their heart or arteries in the recent past.

It is also not recommended in pregnant women; women planning on becoming pregnant; and nursing mothers.

Drug Interactions:
Warfarin;
Rifampicin, an antibiotic used to treat tuberculosis and other infections;
Diuretics;
ACE inhibitors and angiotensin receptor blockers, medicines used to lower high;
Medications to treat hypertension or to treat cardiovascular conditions;
Lithium, a medicine used to treat a certain type of depression;
Birth control pills;
Hormone replacement therapy;
Methotrexate.
