25 Jul 2011 I have tried NUMEROUS sleep aids from OTC to most every prescription for insomnia currently available. The OTC products were pretty much ineffective w/o being used in combination with something else... usually 2 or 3 "something elses". NOT the way I want to treat my body. Just too many chemicals floating around my system didn't seem healthy. The Lunesta (my teens call it Loonyesta) works but I had to take 6mg which is doubling the highest dose of 3mg that the company makes. With that product, I had very scary effects. Blocks of time wiped from my memory... completely. I was told that I had hour long conversations with people and I have zero memory of it. Back when I used to smoke, I would wake up and go sit outside in my "smoking chair" to smoke and wake up to my husband leaving for work! Yes! I had slept outside in the dark all night in a chair AND to make matters worse, my robe would be full of burn holes from dropping my cig on myself over and over. Yikes! Hubby finally said, "no more!' Ambien CR worked well for a while but again caused a lot of memory loss and I would do crazy things in the middle of the night like push-ups on the wall... in the NUDE! oyyy... The restoril has been completely different. So far no problems with mem/loss or whacky behavior however, unfortunately it seems to lose it's affect only after a short time. I have been on it less than a month and have already had to have the dosage increased from 15mg to 30mg. The first 3 days, 15mg knocked me out but after that nothing really. So we will see how it goes from here. I do love that there appears to be no side effects like with the others and when I sleep, it's deep peaceful sleep.
