Common Uses:
This medication is an antihistamine that treats symptoms such as itching, runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing from "hay fever" and other allergies.
Off Label Uses:
It is used to relieve itching from hives.
Side Effects:
Rash;
Itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat);
Severe dizziness;
Trouble breathing.
Cautions / Warnings:
Not recommended in people with:
Allergic reactions to this medication or any of its ingredients;
Kidney disease, liver disease;
Phenylketonuria (PKU);
Diabetes;
It is also not recommended in pregnant women; women planning on becoming pregnant; and nursing mothers.
Drug Interactions:
Medicines for cough-and-cold products.

This medication is an antihistamine that treats symptoms such as itching, runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing from "hay fever" and other allergies.

Loratadine is a drug used to treat allergies. It is marketed by Schering-Plough under several trade names such as Claritin, Claritine, Clarityn or Clarityne depending on the market, by Lek as Lomilan, by Ranbaxy as Roletra and by Wyeth as Alavert. It is also available as a generic.
