Causes
Parasites are found in contamintated soil, vegatables, meat, watercress and feces. If food is not processed or cooked properly, many worm eggs or larve are often ingested and the majority of parasites, if small enough, can become airborne. Parasites usually enter the body via the mouth, the skin, the bottom of the feet and when direct contact of bodily fluids from a contaminated person is made.

Common Symptoms
Symtoms of parasites vary upon on the type and severity of infestation. One type of parasite, the worm, may go undetected for years with no apparent symptoms. Although, worms can be found in the stool of the infected person. Common parasitic symptoms include nausea vomiting, weight loss, fatigue, weakness, bloating, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
Rare Symptoms
Each worm causes different symptoms. For example, pinworms, cause severe itching, insomnia and restlessness. Hookworms cause the soles of the feet to itch, bloody spit, fever, rash and loss of appetitie. Lastly, threadworms, cause coughing, abdominal pain, diarrahea.
Traditional Treatment
A health care provider will choose the drug that is most effective against each different parasite. The medication needed will depend on the parasite. You may need one dose, or you may have to take the medication for several weeks in order to rid yourself of the parasite. Be careful to take the medicine exactly as it is prescribed, or it may not work completely, and a re-infection may occur.
