The generic name of this medication is amphetamine/dextroamphetamine and brand name is Adderall.

The active ingredients of this medication are amphetamine aspartate, amphetamine sulfate and dextroamphetamine.

Adderall is manufactured by Shire Pharmaceuticals Group.

Mainly used in treating attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and narcolepsy.

Common Uses:

This medication is used for the treatment of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and narcolepsy (sudden and uncontrollable attacks of drowsiness and sleepiness).

Off Label Uses:

None noted currently.

Side Effects:
Constipation
Diarrhea
Difficulty sleeping
Dizziness
Dry mouth
Headache
Loss of appetite
Nausea
Nervousness
Restlessness
Stomach pain or upset
Unpleasant taste
Vomiting
Weight loss

Cautions / Warnings:

Not advisable in patients who are allergic to any ingredient in Adderall or to similar medicines.
Not advisable in patients on furazolidone, guanadrel and guanethidine.
Not advisable in patients with severe hardening of the arteries, active heart or blood vessel disease.
Not advisable in pregnany, pre-pregnancy and for nursing mothers.

Drug Interactions:
Glutamic acid, haloperidol, lithium carbonate, phenothiazines (eg chlorpromazine).
Alkalinizing agents (eg daily antacids, sodium bicarbonate, acetazolamide).
Propoxyphene meperidine, norepinephrine, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (eg fluoxetine).
Alpha blockers (eg prazosin).
