Warnings
The generic name of this medication is Alamine and brand name is Chlorpheniramine-Phenylephrine.
The active ingredients of this medication are dexbrompheniramine and pseudoephedrine.
It is mainly used to treat runny/stuffy nose and other symptoms (ear congestion, watery/itchy eyes, itchy throat) caused by allergies, hay fever, the common cold, or other breathing illnesses (sinusitis).
Common Uses:
This medication is used to treat runny/stuffy nose and other symptoms (ear congestion, watery/itchy eyes, itchy throat) caused by allergies, hay fever, the common cold or other breathing illnesses (sinusitis).
Off Label Uses:
None noted thus far.
Side Effects:
Drowsiness.
Dizziness.
Dry mouth/nose/throat/eyes.
Blurred vision.
Fast heartbeat.
Trouble sleeping.
Restlessness.
Irritability.
Headache.
Upset stomach.
Shaking or constipation.
Cautions / Warnings:
Not recommended in patients with the following conditions:
If allergic to any of its ingredients or if there are any other allergies.
If patient has blood vessel problems (low blood flow to the brain/legs/hands), breathing problems (asthma, emphysema), diabetes, glaucoma, heart disease.
During pregnancy.
Drug Interactions:
MAO inhibitors (furazolidone, isocarboxazid, linezolid, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, rasagiline, selegiline, tranylcypromine)
Medications for migraine headaches (sumatriptan, naratriptan, zolmitriptan, ergotamine)
Medicine for sleep or anxiety (alprazolam, diazepam, zolpidem), muscle relaxants, narcotic pain relievers (codeine), psychiatric medicines (chlorpromazine, risperidone, amitriptyline, trazodone).
