Alprazolam is the finest and most effective BZD for anxiety and panic on the market and also the ONLY benzodiazepine (of the triazolo- class) recommended for people with a history of depression. The problem in the USA is that there are hundreds of brands/generics, but only TWO which would be deemed acceptable quality by European patients - original branded XANAX and the GREENSTONE generics. Every single other make O have had which originated there has been complete garbage, almost as poor as Pakistani brands, in particular the most dispensed of them all, Sandoz GG247/248/249, one of the worst quality alprazolam a you will find anywhere. In the UK there are NO generics available, only Pfizer/Upjohn Xanax, and that only in a maximum unit strengthh of 0.5mg (500mcg). I have to obtain 1 and 2mg tablets from other EU countries or from South America. Other than the original the best brand in the market without a doubt is the excellent ALPLAX by Gador, SA, of Buenos Aires. Best European brands other than Xanax would be Galenika KSALOL, Egis FRONTIN, KRKA HELEX and Labormed Oharma's generic, which, like the Argentinian DENVER FARMA generic is as good as any branded alp. Avoid any American made alprazolam apart from the Xanax and Greenstone, and all from Asia bar the Thai brand XIEMED. I tend to use the 2mg original 'U94' XANAX brand and 1mg KSALOL, and when able to afford them, ALPLAX and Denver Farma from Argentina. You will never go wrong with those, whereas any others are going to be severely disappointingly poor quality. From one who has been using Xanax and generics since 1981.

The most famous shorter acting anxiolytic drug!...Not very effective for insomnia.Benzodiazepines such as Lorazepam,Diazepam,Clonazepam are much better for Insonia associated with anxiety.Could be taken with Sertraline for enhanced effects.Should be taken as prescribed.Dependence may develope,hence should be taken carefully.

Alprazolam has the brand name Xanax. It is very effective but be warned it is habit forming. I would find it much more difficult to have a so called "normal" life without using it.
