Amla, also known as Indian Gooseberry, is a natural antioxidant, and contains the highest amount of Vitamin C in natural form. Although only one inch in diameter, the Amalaki fruit has the same antiscorbutic value as two oranges. Its fruit is acrid, cooling, refrigerant, diuretic and laxative.
