The generic name of this medication is amoxicillin and brand name is Amoxil.

The active ingredients of this medication are amoxicillin; amoxicillin (as trihydrate); and clavulanate potassium.

Inactive ingredients of Amoxil include colloidal silicon dioxide, crospovidone, hypromellose, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, polyethylene glycol, sodium starch glycolate, and titanium dioxide.

It is available in the form of capsules, regular tablets, chewable Tablets, and powder for oral suspension.

This medication is used in the treatment of certain bacterial infections as in:
Ear, nose, and throat infections;
Gonorrhea;
Lower respiratory tract infections;
Skin infections.

Common Uses:

This medication is used in the treatment of certain bacterial infections as in:
Ear, nose, and throat infections;
Gonorrhea;
Lower respiratory tract infections;
Skin infections.

Off Label Uses:

It is used in combination with other medicines in the treatment of H. pylori infection and ulcers of the small intestines.

Side Effects:
Diarrhea;
Nausea;
Vomiting.

Cautions / Warnings:

Not recommended in people:
Allergic reactions to this medication or any of its ingredients; or with allergiic reactions to any another penicillin antibiotic like ampicillin);
Who have recently taken or will be taking live oral typhoid vaccine;
With infectious mononucleosis;
With kidney problems.

It is also not recommended in pregnant women, those intending to become pregnant, and nursing mothers.

Drug Interactions:
Anticoagulants (eg, warfarin);
Probenecid;
Chloramphenicol, macrolide antibiotics (eg, erythromycin), sulfonamides (eg, sulfamethoxazole), or tetracycline antibiotics (eg, doxycycline);
Methotrexate;
Live oral typhoid vaccine or hormonal birth control (eg, birth control pills).

21 Jun 2010	Amoxil doesn't only cures my bacterial infection, but also relieves pain.
