The generic name of this medication is amphotericin B cholesteryl sulfate complex and the brand name is Amphotec.
Amphotec is manufactured by Sequus Pharmaceuticals.
The active ingredients of this medication is amphotericin B.
This medication is used in treating severe and potentially life-threatening fungal infections like aspergillosis.
Common Uses:
This medication is used in treating severe and potentially life-threatening fungal infections like aspergillosis.
Off Label Uses:
None noted currently.
Side Effects:
Chills;
Fever;
Headache;
Loss of appetite;
Muscle or joint pain;
Nausea;
Stomach pain;
Weight loss.
Cautions / Warnings:
Not recommended in people with:
Allergic reactions to this medication or any of its ingredients;
Kidney problems.
It is also not advisable in pregnant women; those that are planning on becoming pregnant and nursing mothers.
Drug Interactions:
Aminoglycoside antibiotics like gentamicin;
Antineoplastic medicines like cyclosporine, pentamidine;
Azole antifungals like ketoconazole;
Corticosteroids like prednisone or corticotropin (ACTH);
Digoxin;
Flucytosine;
Leukocyte transfusions;
Skeletal muscle relaxants like tubocurarine.
