Warnings
The generic name of this medication is sulfinpyrazone and brand name is Anturane.
The active ingredients of this medication is sulfinpyrazone.
It is mainly used to reduce the amount of uric acid in the body by causing more uric acid to be passed out in urine.
Sulfinpyrazone is used to treat gout and gouty arthritis.
Common Uses:
This medication is used to reduces the amount of uric acid in the body by causing more uric acid to be passed out in urine. Sulfinpyrazone is used to treat gout and gouty arthritis.
Off Label Uses:
None noted currently.
Side Effects:
Difficulty breathing
Closing of the throat
Swelling of the lips, tongue or face; or hives.
Cautions / Warnings:
Not recommended in patients with the following conditions:
If there is allergic reaction to sulfinpyrazone.
If there is kidney disease or poorly functioning kidneys.
If there are kidney stones.
Ulcer in the stomach.
If there are blood problems.
If patient is on high-dose aspirin or salicylate therapy.
Drug Interactions:
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Tolbutamide (Orinase)
Theophylline (Theo-Dur, Theochron, Theolair, Elixophylline, others)
Verapamil (Verelan, Calan, Isoptin)
