The generic name of this medication is hydrocortisone and brand names are Aquanil HC, Caldecort, Cetacort, Cortaid, Hycort, Hytone.
The active ingredient of this medication is hydricortisone.
This medication is used to treat a variety of skin conditions (e.g., insect bites, eczema, dermatitis, allergies, rash, itching of the outer female genitals, and anal itching).
Common Uses:
This medication is used to treat a variety of skin conditions (e.g., insect bites, eczema, dermatitis, allergies, rash, itching of the outer female genitals, and anal itching).
Off Label Uses:
None noted currently.
Side Effects:
Stinging/burning sensation;
Irritation;
Dryness or redness at the site of application;
Acne;
Unusual hair growth;
Folliculitis;
Skin thinning/discoloration or stretch.
Cautions / Warnings:
Not recommended in patients with:
Allergic reactions to this medication; any of its ingredients; or to other corticosteroids (e.g., prednisone, triamcinolone).
It is also not recommended in pregnant women.
