The generic name of this medication is phytonadione and brand names are Mephyton and Vitamin K1.

The active ingredient of this medication is phytonadione.

Phytonadione is used to treat vitamin K deficiency and to treat excessive bleeding.

Common Uses:

Phytonadione is used to treat vitamin K deficiency and to treat excessive bleeding.

Off Label Uses:

None noted thus far.

Side Effects:
An allergic reaction (difficulty in breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives);
Dizziness;
Tachycardia or irregular heartbeats;
Increased sweating.

Cautions / Warnings:

Not recommended in:
People with allergic reactions to this medication or any of its ingredients;
Pregnant Women.

Drug Interactions:
Warfarin (Coumadin);
Mineral oil;
Orlistat (Xenical);
Cholestyramine (Questran, Prevalite);
A salicylate such as aspirin (Acuprin, Ecotrin, Ascriptin, Bayer, others); Choline salicylate and/or magnesium salicylate (Magan, Doan's, Bayer Select; Backache Pain Formula, Mobidin, Arthropan, Trilisate, Tricosal), or salsalate (Disalcid);
A nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) such as ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil, Nuprin, others), ketoprofen (Orudis, Orudis KT, Oruvail), naproxen (Naprosyn, Anaprox, Aleve), diclofenac (Voltaren, Cataflam), nabumetone (Relafen), oxaprozin (Daypro), piroxicam (Feldene), etodolac (Lodine), fenoprofen (Nalfon), flurbiprofen (Ansaid), indomethacin (Indocin), ketorolac (Toradol), sulindac (Clinoril), or tolmetin (Tolectin); or
Any antibiotic.
