Warnings
The generic name of this medication is donepezil and brand names are Aricept, Aricept ODT.
The active ingredient of this medication is donepezil hydrochloride and inactive ingredients are lactose monohydrate and corn starch.
Primarily used in the treatment of mild-to-moderate dementia caused by Alzheimer's disease.
Common Uses:
This medication is used to treat mild-to-moderate dementia caused by Alzheimer's disease.
Off Label Uses:
None noted currently.
Side Effects:
Black, bloody, or tarry stools;
Coughing up blood or vomit that looks like blood or coffee grounds;
Urinary discomfort;
Seizure (black-out or convulsions).
Cautions / Warnings:
Not recommended in people with:
Allergic reaction to this medication or any of its ingredients;
Heart rhythm disorders like "sick sinus syndrome" (slow heartbeats);
History of stomach ulcers;
Epilepsy or other seizure disorders.
It is also not recommended in pregnant women and women that are planning on becoming pregnant and nursing mothers.

Atropine (Donnatal, and others);
Belladonna;
Carbamazepine (Tegretol);
Clidinium (Quarzan);
Dexamethasone (Decadron);
Dicyclomine (Bentyl);
Glycopyrrolate (Robinul);
Hyoscyamine (Anaspaz, Cystospaz, Levsin, and others);
Mepenzolate (Cantil);
Methantheline (Provocholine).
