The generic name of this medication is triamcinolone and brand name is Aristospan.

The active ingredient of this medication is triamcinolone hexacetonide. Inactive ingredients include polysorbate; sorbitol solution; water for injection; hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide. It also contains benzyl alcohol which is a preservative.

Mainly used in treating inflammation in a number of different skin disorders, such as certain types of alopecia (hair loss), keloids, or severe psoriasis.

This medication is used in treating inflammation in a number of different skin disorders, such as certain types of alopecia (hair loss), keloids, or severe psoriasis.

Off Label Uses:

None noted currently.

Side Effects:
Acne;
Changes in appetite;
Abdominal discomfort;
Insomnia;
Headache;
Heartburn;
Nausea;
Restlessness;
Sweating;
Vomiting.

Cautions / Warnings:

Not recommended in people with:
Allergic reactions to this medication or any of its ingredients;
Systemic fungal infection or a malarial infection in the brain;
History of using Aristospan Suspension as an intramuscular injection to treat a certain bleeding disorder (idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura);
Cardiovascular conditions like congestive heart failure; recent heart attack.

It is also not recommended in women who are pregnant or planning on becoming pregnant; and nursing mothers.

Drug Interactions:
Amphotericin B, digoxin, or diuretics (eg, furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide);
Cyclosporine;
Azole antifungals (eg, itraconazole, ketoconazole), estrogens, hormonal contraceptives (birth control pills), or macrolide antibiotics (eg, clarithromycin);
Barbiturates (eg, phenobarbital), carbamazepine, cholestyramine, hydantoins (eg, phenytoin), or rifampin;
Aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) (eg, ibuprofen), or ritodrine;
Anticholinesterases (eg, pyridostigmine) or isoniazid.
