The generic name of this medication is aspirin buffered with Ca/Al/Mg antacid and brand names are Asprin Ec Low Dose, Ascriptin, Bufferin.

The active ingredients of this medication are acetylsalicylic acid, caffeine, and orphenadrine citrate. Inactive ingredients include corn starch, croscarmellose sodium, D&C Yellow No.10 aluminum lake, FD&C Blue No.1 aluminum lake, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, povidone and silicon dioxide.

This medication is used to reduce fever and provide relief from mild-to-moderate pain from conditions like muscle discomfort, toothache, common cold, and headache.

Common Uses:

This medication is used to reduce fever and provide relief from mild-to-moderate pain from conditions like muscle discomfort; toothache; common cold; and headache.

Off Label Uses:

Used to reduce pain and swelling in conditions like arthritis.

Side Effects:
Abdominal discomfort and heartburn;
Unexplained fatigue;
Dizziness;
Dark urine;
Yellowing eyes/skin.

Cautions / Warnings:

Not recommended in people with:
Allergic reactions to this medication or any of its ingredients; to other salicylates like choline salicylate; or to other pain killers or fever reducing agents like NSAIDs (ibuprofen, naproxen);
Bleeding/blood-clotting disorders like hemophilia, vitamin K deficiency, low platelet count;
Renal disorders;
Liver disorders;
Diabetes;
Abdominal disorders like ulcers; acidity; and abdominal discomfort;

It is also not recommended in pregnant women; women planning on becoming pregnant; and nursing mothers.

Drug Interactions:
Ketorolac;
Mifepristone;
Acetazolamide;
Bisphosphonates taken by mouth (such as alendronate);
Anti-coagulants (such as warfarin, heparin);
Hypertension drugs (such as ACE inhibitors such as captopril, beta blockers such as metoprolol);
NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen, naproxen); Corticosteroids (such as prednisone);
Diabetes drugs (such as chlorpropamide, glyburide);
Methotrexate;
Pemetrexed;
SSRI antidepressants (such as fluoxetine, sertraline).
