Atmagupta (Mucuna Pruriens) is used as an anthelmintic, astringent, nervine and rejuvenative substance. Its seeds contain high concentrations of levodopa, a direct precursor of the neurotransmitter dopamine. It has long been used in traditional Ayurvedic Indian medicine for diseases including Parkinson's Disease.Its seeds are used to treat leucorrhoea, menorrhagia and spermatorrhoea. The roots are used in paralysis and nervous disorders. Its decoction purifies the blood also. Used for bronchial asthma, bronchitis, eczema, psoriasis, grand and petit mal epilepsy, sexual debility, diseases of the nervous system, kidney, dropsy.
